Kat Sabath, LMSW
Kat Sabath, LMSW, is a psychotherapist at CBCC dedicated to supporting the well-being of individuals and families across the lifespan. Ms. Sabath specializes in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and trauma-focused interventions. Ms. Sabath holds her LMSW license in Connecticut.
Ms. Sabath graduated cum laude from Boston University with her BS in Elementary Education and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). After several years as a classroom teacher, she pursued her graduate studies at Columbia University, where she received her Master of Science in Social Work with a specialization in Advanced Clinical Practice. Ms. Sabath was also a recipient of Columbia’s Mae L. Wien Prize for excellence in family planning and counseling. During her training and post-graduate work, she has supported individuals and groups in community mental health, outpatient, and inpatient settings. Ms. Sabath completed her internship at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, Connecticut, where she trained with Dr. Emily Haas, creator of Silver Hill Hospital’s Triumph Program for residential trauma treatment. In this setting, Ms. Sabath gained expertise in assessing and treating complex trauma and dissociative disorders as well as working with adults and adolescents at various levels of acuity in inpatient treatment. In addition to DBT, CBT, and trauma-focused interventions, Ms. Sabath has expertise implementing techniques from Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Emotionally-Focused Therapy in an outpatient setting.
Ms. Sabath is deeply invested in working with parents and caregivers, perinatal individuals, survivors of trauma, and those contending with persistent mood disorders (adolescents and adults). With graduate-level training in mindfulness-based therapy and actively teaching as a registered yoga instructor through the Yoga Alliance, Ms. Sabath is skilled in bringing holistic methods such as mindfulness, breathwork, and somatic techniques into the therapy space when clinically indicated. Ms. Sabath is passionate about creating a trusting environment where clients can develop insight and self-awareness, increase distress tolerance, and create sustainable change in their lives through behavior changes within their control.
